[edit] Biography
[edit] Personality
Viola is a gentle soul, soft-spoken and courteous at all times. Most people find her demeanor unsettling, as she can appear quite distant and ghost-like; the truth is that she thinks she is of little purpose and value, outside of her magical studies and her vast collection of plants and fungi. Her poor constitution leaves her confined to the conservatory for the most part, and thus she identifies quite closely with her beloved plants. She continues to try to discover a new life for herself through these things, and is quite attached to her supportive aunt, Dee.
Like any delicate flower, Viola possesses her own poisons and thorns. She can become virulent when her family's interests are threatened, and even her relatives find her quite stubborn and willful. It is difficult to frighten or intimidate her, as she is very familiar with these sorts of tactics. When Viola makes her mind up about something, she carries through with her decisions at nearly all costs.
Viola, like her late parents, lives by an eccentric code of honor that seems to run counter to the usual criminal mindset. She has a distaste for murder and dishonesty that has led to some conflict concerning the more vicious dealings of life in the criminal underworld.
[edit] Powers and Abilities
Viola has a natural talent for witchcraft, with a basic knowledge of hexes, wards, enchantments, and the like, though her expertise is focused on two things: fire and herbalism. She can magically conjure fire at will, and can even control pre-existing flames; she could stand at the center of a firestorm and emerge untouched.
Even without the aid of magic spells, Viola has a natural green thumb and an affinity for plants and fungi. She has a psychic and mystic connection with them, as they often seem to respond immediately to her presence, granting her a sort of telekinetic control over them. Naturally, Viola has intimate knowledge about how best to utilize plants, their various extracts and applications, from poisons to panaceas.
One of Viola's most impressive assets is Charley, an intelligent plant being grown using magic and innumerable splicing. Its sole purpose is to shield and protect Viola by forming armor and defensive implements around her body, even changing its shape to create blades and other extensions as needed. It has a natural resistance to fire and can weather vicious attacks without exposing Viola herself. When not in use, Charley retracts and withdraws into a small blossom, which Viola often wears as a brooch or hairpiece.
[edit] Background
Viola's parents died when she was young, and she has been raised by her grandfather, Bruto, and aunt, Dee, ever since.
